About Me

I am an assistant professor in Computer Science at the Interactions Research Group, University of St.Gallen, Switzerland, and an external collaborator with the Wimmics team at Inria, Université Côte d'Azur, CNRS, I3S, France. My research focuses on designing autonomous agents and multi-agent systems for the Web, with emphasis on the Web of Things and application areas such as industrial manufacturing and building automation. My work received the best paper award at the IoT 2016.

Before joining the University of St.Gallen, I spent six months at Siemens Corporate Technology in Berkeley, USA, as principal investigator and lead architect of an intelligent manufacturing system that integrated multi-agent systems with the Web of Things. The results were presented at AAMAS 2018.

I co-organized the Dagstuhl Seminars 21072 (Feb. 2021) and 23081 (Feb. 2023) on "Agents on the Web", and I co-chair the W3C WebAgents Community Group. Since 2024, I have also served on the Steering Committee for Engineering Multi-Agent Systems.

Beyond research, I am a founding member of the Romanian Association for Artificial Intelligence (ARIA), where I served on the Board of Directors from 2011 to 2016.

In a previous life, I was a skydiver and performance athlete with the Romanian Aeroclub, and I also hold a skydiving license from the United States Parachute Association (USPA).
